Every Ontario worker needs to know: the gig economy is coming for your job.
In December 2021, Doug Ford’s hand-picked Ontario Workforce Recovery Advisory Committee made a series of recommendations that opens the door to the "gigification" of the entire economy: making it easier for employers to misclassify workers as "independent contractors" and exclude them from Ontario’s minimum labour standards.
But gig workers are already fighting back, and we need the rest of the labour movement to join them. All our jobs are at risk, unless we stand up for decent work for every single one of us.
