During third trimester of pregnancy, the belly size and weight can begin to get uncomfortable for women. The belly lift is a simple, but temporary relief tool that can be performed with or without a partner. If a woman is performing this on her own, she can interlace her fingers and place them at the bottom of her baby bump, roll her shoulders back and down by engaging her latissimus dorsi muscle. This will create a gentle pull up on the belly. This can also be done skin to skin with fingers spread out.
When done with a partner, the woman can lay down and her partner can stand towards her head. The partner will place their hands at the base of the belly bump and pull up towards the woman’s head lightly. The pull is just enough to create a relief of the pressure.
