The Sushi Box FX Underground Accelerator is an incredible tool for bass (and guitar too, I guess); modelled off the tube front end of an Orange AD200B, and the tone stack of an Alembic F2B, it does a great job replicating the tone of my Orange Terror Bass head, but in a DI scenario.
Since, as a gigging musician, my on-stage amp means basically nothing as regards to the live sound the audience hears, I wanted something in my DI chain to give me actual tube warmth, saturation, and compression. This box acts as my "amp" and then my Two Notes Torpedo is my "cab", so when I send signal to FOH, it sounds a lot closer to what I'm hearing on stage than a pure dry DI sound (which can be pretty brittle/sterile IME).
Left the EQ knobs on the UA alone here, but ran through a few different sounds on offer; "flat" volume and gain, a clean sound, and then the just-beginning-to-breakup sound, which is so characteristic of the Orange tube bass heads.
