The Illinois Second Judicial Circuit is found in a group of Southern Illinois counties which goes from Jefferson County to the Indiana border. Our guest today is Jo Beth Weber, the Presiding Judge of Jefferson County. She has been with the Circuit since December 2012. Judge Weber is responsible for assigning dockets and cases to all judges in Jefferson County. She currently presides over the criminal dockets and is the founder of Jefferson County Drug Court. In the past, she has presided over civil matters and juvenile cases. Prior to joining the Circuit in 2012, she had been the Chief Legal Administrator for the Fifth District State Appellate Defender’s Office, supervising 12 attorneys and necessary staff. Earlier in her career she was an Associate General Counsel at Southern Illinois University, overseeing a wide range of the university’s legal issues. Judge Weber is currently seeking a seat on the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court.
