Plus, Jennifer surprises Principal Christian Mahone at South Side Elementary in Champaign, IL, who was born and raised on the southside of Chicago. Since there is a lack of Black male teachers, Christian wanted to become an educator so students had a role model at school that looked like them. After six years as a teacher, Christian got his master’s degree, became a principal, and he has been making a big impact in his students’ lives.
