In our seventh continuing medical education webinar, Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Kaitlyn Strumph, DO presented about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and the brain including types of cerebral nervous system (CNS) complications associated with the disease, risk factors and downstream effects of CNS injury including neurocognitive deficits, mental health associations in SCD, American Society of Hematology (ASH) disease guidelines related to cognitive deficits in SCD, as well as available interventions.
