In 1974, Dr. Frank Jobe performed a breakthrough surgery for the Dodger Pitcher, Tommy John. This would not only save Tommy John’s career, but the careers of thousands of players after him. This surgery was a reconstruction of the ulnar collateral ligament, the ligament that gives stability to the inner elbow. it would go on to be popularly known as the Tommy John surgery.
