In this video, we are testing out the battery preconditioning on my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq5 AWD.
Hyundai USA released the needed software to activate battery preconditioning on the early 2022 Ioniq5 AWDs in December 2022. I had this software installed by my local dealer February 6, 2023. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between Hyundai USA and Hyundai Korea, the software that was online during that time was incorrect and did not work properly. Now, Hyundai has fixed the issue and battery preconditioning _should_ be working. First, I’ll show how to activate battery preconditioning by using the vehicle’s navigation system to navigate to a DC fast charger, we’ll see how long and how much electricity it takes to heat the battery from a relatively mild temperature up to full temperature, and we’ll go over how battery preconditioning works.
