Rinpoche describes the advantage of cherishing others as a way to find happiness in contrast to the selfish thought, cherishing oneself, which is the source of all suffering and an obstacle to practicing the Dharma. He quotes Kyabje Khunu Lama Rinpoche´s “Praise to Bodhichitta” and talks about the amazing attitude of Bodhichitta and how one can benefit numberless sentient beings by developing Bodhichitta. Rinpoche tells a story about Asanga seeing the wounded dog and generating great compassion and talks about the Vajrayogini lineage, the Vajrayogini pure land and how the desire to be born in a pure land can be motivated by a selfish mind. A Bodhisattva longs to be born even in a hell realm to benefit sentient beings. He elaborates on the attitude of offering the victory to others as explained in “The Eight Verses” and gives examples how to practice tonglen. He further explains the connection between the suffering of sentient beings, great compassion, bodhichitta, bodhisattvas, Buddha, good karma and Buddha’s actions and the preciousness of the enemy. He then concludes that with mindfulness and bodhichitta every day becomes very precious.
