Stations with multiple FM transmitters need to synchronize their signals to avoid noticeable jumps in audio when a (car) receiver switches to an alternative frequency.
In this video you can hear the result of synchronized playback of 3 audio streams in Stereo Tool. Two streams are playing on the same laptop, with Windows 7, and one is coming from a Vista desktop. The sound cards are also different.
Amplifier switch up = 2 streams from laptop (if you hear only one: There are really 2, but very close to each other)
Amplifier switch right = desktop
Upon start of the playback there was a difference of multiple seconds between the streams, this is the result after running for a while.
