Have you ever wondered how to get perfectly peeled, pretty little symmetrical orange segments? Louise Leonard from thelusherie.com is back to show you how. It's so easy!
----------------------------
Start by slicing the top and bottom ends off of the orange using a sharp pairing knife. This creates a flat surface for you to stand the orange upright. Then run the knife the length of the orange, following the curvature just where to white pith and the orange flesh meet. Continue this motion working your way around the orange until it is entirely peeled.
Next, working over a bowl, hold the orange in your hand and slice in between the flesh and the connective membrane of one of the segments. Using your knife as a lever, turn it under the segment and peel it away from the other side of the membrane. Rotate the orange and continue this method with each segment of the fruit until all the pieces have been removed.
The leftover connective tissue can then be squeezed to expel any excess juice onto the segments.
