The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)--the virus that causes HIV infection--was once considered a death sentence. Almost 40 years since innovative HIV treatment, care, and prevention began, continued stigma and widening disparities exacerbated by COVID-19 contribute to the uneven progress to end the HIV epidemic among Black and Latino Americans.
