Filament runout sensors can save you from ailed prints, but they are a pain to deal with otherwise. My patron Derek shared the Orbiter Filament Sensor, which makes loading and unloading easy with automated processes, plus covers the usual runout detection. In this video I show you step by step how to print, assemble, install and configure Klipper to use it. This includes understanding the macros so you can customise to suit your printer.
Thanks to the creator Robert Lorincz for their work and for making this open source. The concept should be easy enough to adapt to other machines without an Orbiter extruder in place.
