The debate over whether whales and other large mammals should be held in captivity for our entertainment means increasingly we are seeing the back of such practices.
But what happens to the animals who - now reliant on human help - can't simply be released into the wild?
For a pair of beluga whales who have called a Sea Life park in Shanghai home for the last decade - the solution involves a 6,000 mile journey - that will see them released into the cool Atlantic waters of an Icelandic bay.
