Today, I’m reviewing my newest microphone: the Zoom M3 MicTrak. I got this specifically for its 32-bit float recording feature and to replace my Zoom F3 and Sennheiser mic setup.

This microphone is a versatile and compact microphone designed to provide high-quality audio recording in a variety of settings. It has a sleek and modern design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The microphone is compact and lightweight, making it easy to transport and store, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come with any storage case or pouch.

The Zoom M3 MicTrak microphone delivers high-quality audio recording in a variety of settings. It has multiple recording modes, including stereo at 120 or 90 degrees and mono, which allows you to customize your recording setup for different scenarios.

The microphone has a wide dynamic range and frequency response, which ensures that your recordings are clear and detailed. That’s the best part, really. Not having to worry about your audio in post is peace of mind. Never worry about it being distorted or grainy from being too loud or not loud enough. 32-bit should be the absolute minimum requirement for serious audio and video creators, and yes, that includes you.

What’s great about this microphone is the built-in audio recorder that allows you to record audio directly to a micro SD card without the need for an external recorder. It definitely simplified my setup, and that’s why I sold it and kept this instead.

The Zoom M3 MicTrak microphone performs well in a variety of scenarios, including outdoor activities and studio recording. The only thing I wish it had was a rechargeable battery. It still takes AA batteries like many of their other recorders.

Previous reports of audio interference from cell phones are resolved. I tested mine and had no interference. Plus, who waves their phone around their mic while recording anyway?
It would have been nice to include a dead cat in addition to the foam windscreen.
It’s also not wireless, but you can make it wireless easily by attaching a wireless transmitter from a wireless audio system.
The built-in audio recorder allows for backup recording without the need for an external device.
Overall, the Zoom M3 MicTrak microphone is a versatile and powerful microphone that delivers high-quality audio recording in a variety of settings. Its built-in audio recorder, shock mount, and windscreen make it a convenient and reliable tool for outdoor activities, studio recording, and more.

I highly recommend it for podcasters, vloggers, and anyone who needs high-quality audio recording on the go. Remember: never settle for anything less than 32-bit float recording.
