Background information on the confirmation of charges hearing in the case of The Prosecutor v. Bahar Idriss Abu Garda before Pre-Trial Chamber I.
The confirmation of charges hearing is scheduled for 19 to 30 October 2009.
Following the issuance of a summons to appear on 17 May 2009, Bahar Idriss Abu Garda appeared voluntarily before the Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court in The Hague on 18 May 2009.
He is allegedly responsible for three war crimes committed in Darfur, Sudan.
Pre-Trial Chamber I is composed of Judge Silvia Steiner, Presiding Judge, Judge Sanji Mmasenono Monageng and Judge Cuno Tarfusser.
