In 2021, the European Union’s pioneering Green Deal will increasingly come to life, through legislative proposals and other transformative initiatives. For the 9th edition of the Global Annual Energy Meeting, Esade’s Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics (EsadeGeo) is hosting – together with the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and EIT InnoEnergy – a series of webinars to explore the geopolitics of the Green Deal.

The third session of the Global Annual Energy Meeting will tackle the critical question of "Financing the Green Deal: Private and Public Investment in the Energy Transition in the EU and Abroad”. Will the COVID-19 recovery plan and the European Green Deal succeed in mobilizing sufficient public and private investments? How can policies such as the EU taxonomy and an EU Green Bond Standard scale up sustainable investments? How is the European Investment Bank transitioning into the EU’s climate bank and what challenges does it face? What is the outlook for green finance more broadly?
