Smartwatches aren’t in a great place right now. Android Wear is stalled pending its big 2.0 update; Apple still won’t break out sales figures for its own Watch; and Fitbit is buying every boutique smartwatch company it can get its hands on. So when Samsung announced that its Gear S3 was finally ready to be used with the iPhone, I was stoked that maybe an Apple Watch competitor had finally arrived for iOS. I probably should have known better.
