Dr. Maria Konnikova is a Russian-born American writer and journalist. She is the author of the New York Times best-seller “Mastermind: How to Think Like Sherlock Holmes.” She is a contributing writer for The New Yorker, which recently ran an excerpt from her new book, How Stories Deceive. Her writing has appeared online and in print in numerous publications, including The New York Times, the Atlantic, WIRED, Scientific American and The New Yorker. Dr. Konnikova will be speaking to the Empiricist League about her new book The Confidence Game, and the insights she’s gleaned on the psychology of both the con man and his victims.
