We decided to go on a last-minute trip to Mount Etna during our family vacation to Sicily. Since we were not prepared for a proper hike, we decided to take a cable car to Mount Etna, one of the tallest active volcanoes in Europe.
Although you can hike to the top, taking a cable car to Mount Etna is worth it, especially if you're traveling with kids. It's a bit pricey, but the Funivia dell'Etna was worth it since it came with a guide who gave us an excellent overview of Mount Etna, and we got as close as possible without going on an arduous hike.
Practical Info:
Outdoor gear: If you don't want to pack your coat or outdoor equipment for your Sicily vacation, you're good! You can rent coats for 10 euros at the Mount Etna cable car entrance or buy cold weather gear at the outdoor clothing shops around the parking lot.
Price for the Mount Etna Cable Car: The ticket prices for the cable car are €68 for adults and €50 for kids.
Have you taken the cable car to Mount Etna before? Let us know how your experience went!
