In this video I finally got around to trying a shoot that I’ve been wanting to do for some time — photographing a bottle of Chanel perfume on white acrylic tiles. Here you'll see how to photograph a bottle of perfume and get some tips for photographing on white backgrounds.
Photographing products on white can be quite complex. I used a number of lights to get the shot, which meant I had to carefully balance each element and make sure I didn’t totally blow my white background.
Once I had my basic lighting setup, I then decided to try more creative product lighting setups to see what I could come up with. In the end I produced two new product images which I’m very happy with and that clearly demonstrate how lighting can be used to create different emotions. Even though the two shots are completely the same in terms of subject, background and composition, they both have a very different feel.

You might also find this article useful - I demonstrate how to setup a small studio space for photographing products on a white background. You can use the same concept for product still life photography in any small space. There's also a tutorial video and lighting diagram to help :-)
