DC Bead Loading (Doxorubicin 100mg total dose)
Step 1: Take off the flip cap (do not remove the metal ring) Swab vial with sterile alcohol swab, using an 18-gauge needle draw out the DC beads into a 30ml syringe.
Step 2: Remove the 18-gauge needle from your syringe and place a 5-micron filter needle on the syringe. (Wait for beads to settle). Then using an empty Viaflex bag, push off the excess solution from the beads into the empty bag. Final volume of the beads should be around 3ml.
Step 3: Using another 30ml syringe draw up 25ml (50mg) of doxorubicin. Then pull back the plunger on the first 30ml syringe with the DC beads to 30ml, and push the 25ml of doxorubicin into the DC bead syringe. Finally you will place a black luer tip syringe cap on the syringe. Place syringes upright in the refrigerator with amber light protect bag over them for at least 4 hours. You may load beads the night before if desired. (Repeat steps for the second vial of beads).
