On Monday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that he will continue as the country's leader after a period of reflection on his future. Last week, Sanchez shocked the nation by announcing that he was taking time to reflect on whether it was worth carrying on as prime minister.

Sanchez's decision drew mixed reactions from Spanish politicians. Opposition leader, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, criticized the prime minister, saying that he had "made a fool of himself." However, Spanish Second Deputy Prime Minister, Yolanda Diaz, expressed her support for Sanchez and urged everyone to respect him.

While some people in the capital, Madrid, claimed that they were not surprised by the decision.
"I was expecting this; we can't get rid of him," and added, "He says he is a democrat, but he is not," a resident said.
