In this new episode we show you how we treat our lambs for different diseases and affections!
Firstly we start by weaning the lambs, splitting them from their mothers so we can work easily on them.
Then we checked every lamb's eyes, as the grass is tall they get barley grass seeds stuck in them, which can lead to an infection and other problems. Also it must suck to go around with seeds in your eyes!
We check for pink eye disease too, which is an infection in the eyes and can rapidly spread to the whole flock. For those that are affected both by pink eye, or had seeds in their eyes, we apply an antibiotic directly into the eye, here we used a powder and a spray one.
Final step of treating is drenching them with a subcutaneous injection, to give them vitamin B12 and Selenium, which help with growth and prevents several diseases.
After we treated all our lambs it was time to get them to their new paddock, we walked them about 4km from Boorowa Flats, our main farm, to Old Goorama. All done with the help of our shepherds Cub, Snake and Chook!
