We're excited to share this footage of one of our recently molted Japanese spider crabs! Like other crustaceans, they outgrow their exoskeletons. They molt to remove their old shell before growing a new one. While the actual molt takes as little as 15 minutes, the process begins weeks in advance with the crab producing enzymes to separate from the exoskeleton and separate.
