In this vlog we head away from our campsite for the day to explore the local area by bike! Since Tia is building up to her Metric Century ride, we decided to push the envelope and bike a bit further on this trip. Port Burwell is a small port town located about 44km away from Long Point Provincial Park, and it's home to a historic submarine and lighthouse. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity for us to get a long bike ride in while also exploring a new town with some history!
The first 44km to Port Burwell weren't too bad, since this is a distance we have done many times before. Once in Port Burwell, we stopped at one of the many restaurants for a beer and some lunch, and were surprised to realize we chose a patio with a direct view of the GIANT submarine that was on our list to see. We unfortunately forgot bike locks though, so our exploring was cut short as we had nowhere to leave the bikes. After resting and a quick walk through town, we hit the road to do the 44km back to Long Point Provincinal Park. The way back was defintely alot harder, and Tia hit a bit of a mental wall around 70km. BUT we pushed through and ended up riding 91.5km! It wasn't the fill metric century but it was a close one!
