Cornea Colours | DSEK + Iris Claw Lens
DSEK is a type of endothelial keratoplasty, in which we replace the diseased endothelium with donor endothelium. It is done in case where endothelial cells are not working completely and thus the cornea become edematous for example in cases of pseudophakic bullous keratopathy.
In DSEK endothelial cells along with Descemet membrane and a thin part of posterior stroma are transplanted to the recipient. Thus obviating the need for full thickness corneal transplant.
This was the case of a lady who presented with decreased vision in one eye post cataract surgery. On examination, we saw that the cornea was edematous and IOL subluxated for which we explanted the subluxated IOL, implanted a retro-fixated IOL along with DSEK
