Academic Research in Science
Prof Robert Faff
(Bond Business School, Australia)
This webinar aims to delve into the fundamental aspects of academic research, presented by the InSPiR2eS Centre for Responsible Science (IC4RS). This global virtual platform caters to researchers who share a commitment to promoting and practicing Responsible Science through the utilization of the Pitching Research Framework (PRF) tool. The PRF underscores the significance of responsible communication of research ideas and advocates for Responsible Science principles.
The framework revolves around three pivotal principles:
1. Credible Research: This principle emphasizes the importance of producing reliable knowledge. Ensuring credibility in research outcomes is paramount to maintaining integrity and trust within the academic community.
2. Relevant Research: Aimed at generating knowledge that is not only rigorous but also applicable and beneficial to society. By prioritizing relevance, researchers can contribute meaningfully to addressing real-world challenges and advancing societal progress.
3. Independent Research: This principle underscores the necessity of conducting research in an unbiased manner. Independence in research allows for objective exploration and analysis, free from external influences or conflicts of interest.
Through this webinar, participants will gain insights into how these principles can be effectively integrated into their research endeavours, ultimately contributing to the advancement of Responsible Science on a global scale.
