New Anchor | LEWMAR EPSILON Anchor Test | EP 48 | Pacific Northwest | MV Makena Kai
In this episode we receive a new anchor (Lewmar Epsilon) that we will be unveiling, installing on the boat and a test weigh anchor/retrieval.
A Rocna Vulcan is a tough act to follow but the Lewmar Epsilon I believe will be worthy adversary. The weighted tip (with roughly 35%) of the anchors total weight is the key this success (in my opinion). The big difference is the Lewmar Epsilon is priced at about 30% less purchase price (Galvanized or Stainless). This competitive price point with a premium brand like Lewmar shows great value. Over the 2022 boating season we are going the push this anchor to its practical limits in anchor holding usage as normal individuals would use the anchor; no "ploughing the field" so to speak by dragging it across the bottom. Nothing against that practice but I'm not sure how accurate that relates to a typical anchorage under windy and/or stormy conditions.
