Hi, my name is Hana Laurenzo and I’m the owner and CEO of Teneo Linguistics Company.
In today’s quick chat I want to talk about who our over-the-phone interpreters are and how we screen them. You see, the idea that absolutely anyone who is bilingual can be hired for this job is, well, a myth.
Our interpreters are required to have a college degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience for consecutive interpreting, which is the mode of interpreting we use over-the-phone.
If they interpret for health care, they also complete a HIPAA training course and receive the appropriate certificate.
They are tested for comprehension of sociolinguistic and cultural references as well as technical discussions and discourse. And, of course, as they work with us, their performance is continually monitored.
And you, our customers, can always rate the performance of each interpreter and provide feedback.
