NAKED EGG | EGG AND VINEGAR EXPERIMENT | BOUNCY EGG | OSMOSIS IN EGG EXPERIMENT |
Materials :
eggs
vinegar
jar
The bubbles forming around the shell are carbon dioxide. Vinegar is an acetic acid. Eggs hells are made up of Calcium carbonate. The acetic acid in vinegar reacts with the calcium carbonate in the egg shell.
The egg looks translucent because the hard-outside shell is gone. The part that remains is the shell membrane.
The egg got a little bigger too, because some of the liquid travelled through the egg’s membrane. This is called osmosis.
