Soldier of Fortune (PC)
Mod Used: SOFPlus - Allows widescreen (16:9 or 8:5 ratios) & higher resolutions such as 1440p which is used here. Supports modern graphics cards while adding some other features.
Developed by Raven, who is known for collaborating on Call of Duty games recently. It may have been the most graphically violent FPS at the time of its 2000 release. It still is fairly graphic compared to many recent FPS. Soldier of Fortune uses the idTech 2 engine with modifications, such as Raven's GHOUL engine for dismemberment effects, enemies' reactions to being shot, etc. That M rating is well-earned.
John Mullins works with a group called The Shop to shut down a plot by the terrorist Saber & his minions. Of course, this means blowing lots of them to bits along the way. Literally.
Voice acting is not bad, featuring the late Michael Clarke Duncan as Hawk. Mullins himself is voiced by Todd Susman, who reprises this role in the sequel.
SoF has been ported to Dreamcast & PS2. The DC port suffers some frequent bouts of long load times which aren't so much a problem on PS2. SoF's original PC version became available on GOG as of 2 October 2018.
When you play higher difficulty levels, your saves are limited. If you do Unfair, you gotta one-shot each stage because you can't save in the middle of it.
