Kanave Kalayadhe (English: Oh My Dream, Do Not Fade) is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by V Gowthaman. The film stars Murali and Simran in the lead roles. Simran played a dual role for the first time in her career. The score and soundtrack was composed by Deva. It was produced by Sivasakthi Movie Makers. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics.

Plot
Anand (Murali) and Amritha (Simran) are lovers. Amrita hails from Punjab, while Anand is a Tamilian. In order to seek the approval of Amrita's parents for their marriage, Anand goes to Amrita's home in Punjab. However, before they can unite, Amritha and her family die in a bomb blast. Unable to bear the separation, Anand goes into depression. His friends take him to Chennai with the hope that he will start life afresh. There, life throws a googly at him when he sees Saradha, Amrita's lookalike. After the initial hiccups, Anand and Saradha fall in love with each other and decide to get married. But at this point, Anand learns that Shekhar (Shakti Kumar), Sharada's old lover, is still waiting for her. How is Anand going to handle this strange game of fate?

S. D. Murali (19 May 1964 – 8 September 2010) was an Indian actor who predominantly appeared in Tamil films and few Kannada films.[2] He was famous for roles that portrayed him as a perceptive singer or a tragic lover. His son, Atharvaa, debuted as an actor in the 2010 film Baana Kaathadi.

Early life
Murali was born on 19 May 1964 in Bangalore in a Kannada speaking family. Murali had two siblings; a younger brother S.D.Suresh and a sister Santhi. He lived and studied up to his 5th Standard in Chennai, and from 6th Standard to 10th Standard he studied in Bangalore. When he was 14 years old, he joined as an assistant director to his father, film director and writer S. Siddalingaiah. For some time, he worked as an editing assistant.[3][1]

Simran Bagga (born Rishibala Naval 4 April 1976),[1] is an Indian actress, film producer, dancer and singer who works predominantly in Tamil films.[2] She has also appeared in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films. She is the recipient of numerous accolades including three Filmfare Awards South and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

In 1998, Rediff called her "one of Tamil cinema's top female draws."[3] In 2002, Simran played the mother of an adopted 9-year-old daughter in Kannathil Muthamittal and received her first Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress the following year.[4] The same year she also appeared in two blockbuster comedy films; Pammal K. Sambandam and Panchathantiram. In Telugu, Simran starred in a series of commercially successful films; Samarasimha Reddy (1999), Kalisundam Raa (2000) and Narasimha Naidu (2001). Following the success of the 2004 sci fi film New, Simran became more selective about the projects she pursued during a time period that coincided with the birth of her two children.[5] In 2008, she made a comeback to Tamil cinema with Vaaranam Aayiram which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2019, she was featured opposite Rajinikanth in Karthik Subbaraj's Petta which became the highest grossing film of her career. She reunited with R. Madhavan in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022) and worked in Gulmohar (2023), both of which earned her critical acclaim
