So, the colours of egg yolks vary in different shades. The colours range from dark orange to white-washed yellow. People normally speculate that the darker ones are healthier than the lighter ones. However, that is a half-truth. Egg yolks are in different shades due to the kind of feed or food given to the chickens.
Normally, chickens raised in poultry farms produce various shades of yellow yolks due to the vegetarian diets they feed on. On the other hand, the chickens we rear at home produce orange yolks due to the variety of things they feed on. Despite their differences, all egg yolks either orange or yellow have the same nutritional value. Since both kinds of yolks have the viability to hatch into chicks, they have the needed minerals and vitamins for growth.
