Most beautiful skylark in the world
The lark family, Alaudidae, includes passerine birds like the Eurasian skylark (Alauda arvensis). With introduced populations in New Zealand, Australia, and the Hawaiian Islands, it is a widespread species that can be found throughout Europe and the Palearctic. It is a bird that inhabits open farmland and heathlands. The male sings while hovering at a height of 50 to 100 meters (160 to 330 ft). The genders are similar. It has a buff-white belly and is striped greyish-brown above and on the breast.
In an open area far from trees, bushes, and hedges, the female Eurasian skylark creates an open nest in a shallow depression. She lays three to five eggs and takes around 11 days to incubate each one. Both parents feed the chicks, who eventually leave the nest after eight to ten days but before they can fly. Until they can fly at 18 to 20 days old, they disperse and conceal themselves in the plants while still being fed by their parents. The rate of predation on nests by larger birds and small mammals is considerable. In one season, the parents are capable of raising numerous broods.
The Eurasian skylark has a length of 18–19 cm (7.1–7.5 in). The Eurasian skylark, which is primarily brown above and paler below, has a rather uninteresting appearance like most other lark species. On the head, it features a short, blunt crest that may be lifted and lowered. It has a short tail and short, broad wings when flying. White edges border the tail and the backs of the wings, which are visible when the bird is flying away from the spectator but not when it is traveling in the opposite direction. The male's wings are larger than the female's. It's possible that the female Eurasian skylarks' preference for males who sing and hover for longer lengths of time to show off their prowess led to the evolution of this adaptation for more effective hovering flight.
It is renowned for the male's song, which is delivered in hovering flight at altitudes of 50 to 100 m. From the ground, the singing bird may only appear as a dot in the sky. The bird sings continuously for a long period of time while rising, circling, or hovering. The song is a clear, bubbling warble. The song typically lasts two to three minutes, but later in the mating season, when songs might last for 20 minutes or longer, it has a tendency to stretch longer. Because of the noise from the wind turbines, male skylarks have been seen to sing at higher frequencies near wind farm locations.
