Formed in 1996, the federally incorporated charity is the largest volunteer search and rescue team in Canada. At a moment's notice, the teachers, public servants, students, tech workers and retirees of SBO-OVSR put their lives on hold, grab "go-bags" of outdoor gear and head out to a call that can be anywhere in Eastern Ontario or Western Quebec.
On a snowy day in November, team members arrived for a search and rescue training exercise in Low, Que.
