On November 26, 2016, Exeter College, University of Oxford hosted a symposium on "The Power of the Written Word." Featured on the program was this lecture about the literary careers of Qian Zhongshu and Yang Jiang.
Sir Rick Trainor, the Rector of Exeter College, called Qian and Yang "two of the most outstanding literary figures ever associated with Exeter College."
The pair lived, studied, and had a child in in England during the two years that Qian studied for a BLitt degree at Oxford, 1935-1937.

Exeter College had previously co-hosted a 2014 conference on its famous alumnus, which was held at Jiangnan University in Qian's hometown of Wuxi, China:
