The original Chrysler Airflow was introduced in 1934 and stayed in production until 1937.
And this car was one of the first full-size American production car to use streamlining as a basis for building a sleeker automobile, one that could cut through the air with less resistance.
Chrysler made a significant effort to revolutionize the automotive design with the Chrysler Airflow, but in the end, the Airflow turned out to be a huge commercial failure.
Offers up to 400 miles of range and promises Level 3 autonomous driving capability.
If this concept goes into production and I can’t say it looks too far off being production ready, the Airflow could become Chrysler's very first all-electric vehicle. It would be in line with the Stellantis plans of a massive EV expansion by 2025.
So what about the power and range. Well there aren’t too many details yet, but the Chrysler Airflow concept features all-wheel drive thanks to two 150-kilowatt or 201-horsepower electric motors mounted on each axle.
With around a total of 400 hp this Airflow concept should be pretty quick. However, looking at the overall package and proportions, you can tell that there's more room underneath to fit larger motors or even a three motor option.
So an even higher-performance model could be introduced in the future, assuming, you know, the vehicle gets built at all.
The range with this specific battery pack is intended to deliver between 350 and 400 miles of range, which is pretty competitive in today’s EV world especially if that’s actually a real world number.
