Talks to normalise relations with Israel
Turkish and Israeli officials have met in Switzerland to discuss normalising diplomatic relations. But Ankara says it has three requirements before they can reach any agreement. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Israel has fulfilled one of them by apologising for the Mavi Marmara incident. It happened in 2010, when the Israeli navy raided a Turkish aid boat, killing 10 activists and injuring 30 others. The activists had gone there to try to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip. Turkey says Israel still needs to compensate the victims of the attack and lift the blockade on Gaza.

Mother Teresa approved for sainthood
Pope Francis approved a decree that attributes a miracle to Mother Teresa on Thursday. It paves the way for her sainthood. But no date has been set for the canonisation. Mother Teresa, also known as Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, founded the Missionaries of Charity order. The congregation has 4,500 nuns and runs 600 orphanages, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and clinics worldwide. Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
