All options strategies involve tradeoffs, and it's up to the trader to understand which tradeoffs are best for any given trade. One that's often overlooked is the delta tradeoffs for vertical spreads. If you buy a vertical spread, you're not buying a cheaper call--you're buying a call and selling a call.
