„Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas“ - The Four Seasons Of Buenos Aires, perhaps the most popular cycle by Astor Piazzolla. Different to Vivaldi in his „Four Seasons“, Piazzolla did not mean to describe the meteorological seasons but the pulse of Buenos Aires, the Tango Nuevo, the soul of the city. Therefore he combines the tango rythms with elements of the European baroque music – obviously as a tribute to Vivaldi. In this work „classical“ musicians can show a different part of their musical spectrum, following the composer's intentions by combining the classical style with Tango Argentino.
