Recently appointed by Sir Keir Starmer as Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding, hear Jess Phillips’ powerful piece on domestic violence in which she talks about the unique position of the profession to reach women on their own and says that midwives could be the silver bullet in accessing women suffering from domestic abuse.
Dr Anita Byrne, reveals research that shows 30% of domestic violence and abuse is triggered by pregnancy and talks about the impact of a multidisciplinary, 13 week blended programme, created at Dundalk College of Technology, to improve knowledge, attitudes and skills relating to domestic abuse in Ireland.
Jess and Anita are joined by Sue Macdonald, Co-editor of Mayes Midwifery, who brings her many years of midwifery practice and education expertise to the conversation.
