Mini Whip antenna building and testing. Great solution for LW, MW and SW.
The quest for perfect reception with a small size antenna is by means new, and will probably exist for as long as we try to capture radio waves.
In my Tube Radio restoration hobby, I always need to test the restored receivers, so a good antenna is crucial. I resorted to the tried and true longwire antenna - which was actually not bad for most purposes - but always wished for something more compact and 'magical'.
I found it - the mini whip by PA0RDT. Quite honestly, at first I doubted that it would work as promised, hence my putting it off for months, but I'm very happy with the results.
Have a look at the video and decide for yourself. You have very little to lose, and a heck of a lot to gain.
