Why is tree sap bad for my car? One prominent element of tree sap is sugar and in addition to just being sticky, over time the sap can break down the paint on your car and leave behind a faded spot if you wait too long to remove it.

To deal with tree sap on your car, here are some steps you can take:
● If the sap is recently new, you can take some boiling water right out of the tap and wipe it away with a microfiber cloth
● If it’s been there for awhile, it’s likely set in a bit so you’re going to need a cleaning solution, like Krud Kutter or Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover or even Goo Gone, to get the job done
○ Be sure to mix any potent solutions with water
● Spray the cleaning solution directly on the tree sap and let it sit there for a few minutes, even spraying it again after
● Then go ahead and use a microfiber towel to wipe it away
● Either purchase a calcium and lime cleaner, like Lime-A-Way or CLR, or just some plain old vinegar
● Pour the cleaner into a bowl
● Dip the showerhead in the bowl and let it soak for about an hour
● Scrub all the calcium and lime build-up away with an old toothbrush
● Rinse off the showerhead with clean water
