On September 2, 1806, the largest natural disaster in Switzerland’s history took place. After a period of heavy rain, a landslide of 40 million cubic meters of rock slid down the mountain. The landslide originating from Rossberg buried the village of Goldau and 457 people perished. This short film shows the events of this fateful day.
The entire film can be viewed in the recently opened «Erlebnishalle Goldauer Bergsturz» at the Goldau Nature and Animal Park.
