DOWNTOWN LA: On 05-27-20 at approximately 5pm, a couple hundred black lives matter protesters gathered in Downtown LA to protest police brutality. Anger has risen after the death of George Floyd. Protestors took over the freeway and intersections. Some protestors began hitting and getting on top of a CHP patrol car. The officer began to pull away as the crowds began surrounding the patrol car. A protestor on top of the patrol car fell off the patrol car. The protestor was injured and transported to a local hospital. A second CHP officer pulled up to the injured protestor and the crowd began surrounding that second patrol car. Protestors began kicking it and shattered the back window. That officer also pulled away for their own safety. The protestors then got off the freeway and began taking over city streets. Protestors damaged police cars, spray painted the police station and threw items at police officers. Protestors also lit up a US flag on fire. During the protest, some protesters took over an intersection trapping cars. A car tried to drive through the crowd and a protester began hitting the car not getting out of its way. The driver of the car sped up and struck the protestor. The protestor suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention. Arrests were made during the protest and no officers were injured.
