As you know, BSG will bring about a lot of stuff in the coming months. If you didn't, there's a video I did a week ago about it in the description. I saved this specific topic for this video because of its relevance as they will soon implement EFTs new Armor Plate system. And it looks like a cool system to add at face value. What they didn’t tell you is, this will have a profound impact on your gameplay, overall survivability and perhaps turn out to be worse than you might think…

This new Armour Plate System will offer different levels of protection armor plates that can be replaced and have a hitbox exclusive to them, meaning it only covers its exact area. In essence they are creating an additional hitbox. The areas around the plates will be less protected, either by soft armor embedded in the plate carrier or not protected at all. The plate carrier will have its own basic level of protection, maybe a lvl 2 soft armor, and then you can add a level 6 plate for example. This will open up the areas that were protected before around the plate, the sides of the torso and stomach, shoulders, even frontaly around the plate, and make even the best armors a lot more vulnerable. Granted, it will make the armor system a lot more realistic than being wrapped in magic invisible protection, but in doing so, it will make armours a hell of a lot less effective. Ultimately the armors with better all round protection should skyrocket in price, while plate carriers with no soft armor around the plate should become cheap as chips because the protected area will be reduced by 50% or more.

This realistic hitbox will surely bring about some changes to the gameplay, but i am not sure some are intended. Overall, I identified 4 general groups of players so let’s talk a little about how each is going to be affected by this.
