The Commission ceremony for the first three Multi-Mission Inshore Patrol Vessels took place at Durban in KwaZulu-Natal this morning.
The locally-made vessels - built under Project Biro - were handed over to the South African Navy last month.
This is the first time since 1986 that a Navy warship is built in South Africa.
Its aim is to rejuvenate the country’s Navy patrol capabilities.
