since the D7 4T caterpillar cable dozer known as Jack was left at a remote dam site after the project was completed. the company did not spend any money on the machine in its final years knowing it would be left behind. the cost to build an ice road to get the D7 4T cat back to civilization would cost more then what the cat was worth back in the early 1960s. the repairs done to the D7 4T cat were amazing for being so remote and limited tools and equipment being used. the tracks on the D7 4T cat were well worn down from working with blasted rocks to make the small dam to control the water. we have always call the tracks on the D7 4T cat Wonder Tracks because we always wondered how they stayed on. to recover the D7 4T cat almost 30 years ago, we built an ice road and dragged the cat almost 20 mile to the highway to be loaded on a semi truck for the 30 mile trip to the Kingdom. the Wonder Tracks gave us no problem back then. also Amazon has my 7th book "Never Give Up" in my ice roads book series for being free as an eBook from July 21 to 25 2024. please click on link below to enjoy. thansk
