Gabelli Funds and Columbia Business School co-hosted their 2nd Annual Healthcare Symposium on November 13, 2020. The panelists included executives from the COVID-19 therapeutic and vaccine front-runners, providers, payors, digital health companies and academia. On this panel we heard from: Dr. Deepa Kumaraiah, Senior Vice President of Services Lines and Chief Physician at New York-Presbyterian; Melissa Schulman, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at CVS Health; and Professor Michael Sparer, Chair of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. They addressed the pandemic’s implications for the healthcare system including the telehealth explosion, long-term shift in sites of care, non-emergency procedure recovery, CARES aid, and Medicaid expansion.
